Handles, Fittings and Bag Closures
Handles, Fittings and Bag Closures
Handles and closures shape daily use. An opening that looks tidy in a photograph can be inconvenient when filled. Specify these details with contents, fabric and size so the product is practical as well as attractive.
Discuss your bag requirement
Choose the opening
Open totes give easy access while zippers help retain smaller contents. Drawstrings suit some pouches and laundry bags, but gathering reduces usable height and changes shape. Flaps, snaps and hook-and-loop closures handle differently. Discuss actual contents rather than appearance alone. Check that the largest item passes through the finished opening without forcing seams or catching the lining.
Measure handles
State the arrangement and drop above the opening. Clarify whether length describes the whole strap before attachment or visible carrying portion. Handle width affects feel under load; review attachment reinforcement for the intended use. Test shoulder carrying with realistic contents and clothing. Record measurements consistently so quotations and sample reviews refer to the same handle dimensions.
Review hardware
Check graspable zipper pullers and adequate opening length. Cord, channel and end treatment must work together. Plastic and metal fittings affect appearance, weight and care. Small fittings and long cords need particular consideration where children can access bags; general promotional products should not be assumed child-safe. Request clarification of any special safety or performance requirement before approval.
Check filled samples
Fill the sample realistically and operate the closure repeatedly. Inspect handle and closure-end seams, lining catches and pocket access. A visual check is not a certified load test. For a defined threshold, agree suitable testing and criteria before approval. Check whether closure operation stays convenient when contents shift, and note any requested change in the written specification.
Record details
Include closure, colour, position, handle drop, cord length and fittings. Retain front, back and inside sample photos. Provide quantity and UAE city with the enquiry. Hardware availability, substitutes, minimum quantities, testing, cost and timing require confirmation. Approve alternatives before use, since a similar-looking fitting can change the opening, handling or care requirements of the finished design.
For repeated opening during a working shift, consider who will operate the closure and whether gloves or wet hands are involved. Share these conditions when reviewing usability instead of relying on a brief desktop demonstration.
