Understanding Bag Capacity – Liters vs. Inches Explained
Measure the objects being packed and check finished width, height, base depth and usable opening. A size label alone does not establish capacity or suitability.

Litres describe volume; inches and centimetres describe length. For a rectangular space, width times height times depth in centimetres divided by 1,000 gives a theoretical volume in litres. Flexible shapes, seams, lining and closures reduce usable packing space. Do not treat that calculation as a guaranteed capacity for an irregular or tapered bag.
Measurement order
Record width, height and depth or gusset with the unit. Distinguish external measurements from usable space. Flat pouches, gusseted totes and round laundry bags cannot be compared from width and height alone. For round bases, record diameter and usable height separately. Add a sketch if needed so the supplier can identify where each measurement begins and ends.
Opening allowance
Seams, lining, zippers and cord channels reduce space. Measure the largest item including packaging. Check the opening as well as body size if access is narrow. Rigid boxes fit differently from soft garments. Allow for the way items are inserted and removed, not only their resting position inside the bag. A filled sample is useful where the fit is close.
